Seven Guitars

Seven Guitars is a 1948-set drama by August Wilson, following blues musician Floyd "Schoolboy" Barton as he attempts to revive his career and relationships after a, jail stint. The play centers on themes of ambition, systemic injustice, and community, with characters facing tragic obstacles that ultimately lead to Floyd's untimely death.

Challenge: To create the illusion of an existing basement exit from the house, as the play takes place on multiple floors. A black box theater doesn't have a trap room, which makes this illusion difficult to pull off. It was achieved with a set of bulk head doors (not depicted below).
