Alea Cerha Vist is a recent graduate of LaGuardia High School, where she studied technical theater with a focus on both carpentry and theater management. Talented, dedicated, and deeply passionate about the craft of live performance, Alea has already proven herself to be an invaluable presence behind the scenes, ensuring productions run smoothly from concept to curtain.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Alea's journey in the world of technical theater began at a young age, fueled by her fascination with building miniature models. At the young age of 9, she had her sculpture exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. Her time at LaGuardia High School was transformative, allowing her to refine her technical skills and grow into a collaborative, confident production artist.
In the fall of 2025, Alea will continue her studies at the Sands College of Performing Arts at Pace University under the mentorship of Emmy Award winner April Bartlett, Clinical Lecturer and Head of the Production Design Program. The program is highly selective, admitting only 16 students each year with an acceptance rate of just 2%. With a unique blend of hands-on expertise and organizational talent, Alea is ready to deepen her practice and bring bold, immersive experiences to life onstage.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Throughout my high school career, I have developed a deep passion for technical theater, with a particular focus on the scenic elements of production as well as theater management. The projects featured in this portfolio highlight my growth as both a carpenter and a problem solver.
My experience includes working on six of LaGuardia’s mainstage productions and having the privilege of doing an internship at an off-Broadway theater. The most challenging and rewarding experience was working as Head Deck on LaGuardia’s production of The Addams Family in December 2023. This role required constant focus, problem-solving, and attention to detail, as I was responsible for ensuring that the scenic units operated smoothly throughout each show.
Aside from my technical skills, I have learned the importance of communication and collaboration within a theater environment. Leading a crew, organizing task delegation based on individual strengths, and maintaining clear communication with directors and team members are all essential aspects of the work I have done. These experiences have also ensured my commitment to safety and efficiency.
In the future I would love to further my knowledge in scenic design and develop a deeper understanding of lighting design.
The projects included in this portfolio not only showcase my technical skills but also reflect my dedication and passion for theater. Each project represents a challenge I have faced, a solution I have found, and a skill I have developed – all of which have confirmed my commitment to pursuing a career in technical theater.
